U.S. President Trump is scheduled to visit China for three days starting on the 31st of this month, but the Chinese side has yet to announce the official arrangements. Sources have informed the media that, due to security considerations and a tight itinerary, he will only visit Beijing during his trip to China and will not travel to any other cities.
The report points out that, according to sources cited on the 9th, the preparatory work for this high-level summit has entered its final stage. The U.S. advance team arrived in Beijing at the beginning of this month, but as Trump’s schedule is extremely tight, there is no time to visit a second city outside of Beijing. Previous reports had indicated that Trump once considered visiting multiple Chinese cities.
Another source stated that security is also the primary consideration, and adding a second destination could jeopardize safety as well as complicate logistics. Therefore, both sides have agreed that this visit will be limited to Beijing. The source also mentioned that Trump still may have the opportunity to visit Shenzhen during the November APEC Summit. Noting the situation in the Middle East, the source said that security arrangements for this visit must be exceptionally cautious, but there is confidence that the summit will be successful.
