US President Trump issued a threat on the 9th, stating that if Iran takes any action to block oil transportation through the Strait of Hormuz, the United States will deliver strikes "20 times fiercer than ever before."
He wrote on social media: "We will destroy those extremely easy targets, making it almost impossible for Iran as a nation to ever rebuild—death, fire, and fury will engulf them—but I still pray this will never happen!"
Earlier that day, at a press conference, Trump pointed out that due to US and Israeli attacks on Iran causing market turbulence, he would lift some oil-related sanctions to stabilize oil prices.
He also stated that the conflict with Iran would end soon, but not within this week.
