Singer Worth Over One Hundred Million Slams 'Disaster Victims Robbed Amid Crisis'

On November 26, a level five fire broke out at Hong Kong's Tai Po Wang Fuk Court, resulting in severe devastation. So far, over a hundred people have died, with many more injured or missing. The incident has garnered international attention, and numerous celebrities have donated money in hopes of helping Hong Kong recover as soon as possible.

After the incident, large numbers of residents had to evacuate to community centers or halls. From large corporations and businesses to local small shops, everyone offered free food and daily necessities to the disaster victims. Enthusiastic neighbors and citizens from outside the district also volunteered to provide support, donating bottled water, biscuits, bread, and clothing, and more. Whether one has money or strength, all are pitching in. Some collection points received so many supplies that people had to form human chains to deliver them. In short, everyone strove to fully support the disaster victims left homeless. Some media reporters sighed in amazement, stating that although Hong Kongers are known for sharp words, in times of crisis they are still warm-hearted and efficient in action.

Unexpectedly, some media outlets discovered that at several Tai Po supply stations, certain individuals were 'taking advantage of the disaster,' with non-victims blending in to cheat or steal supplies. This forced volunteers to put up warnings such as 'Non-disaster residents, please do not take! Heaven is watching!' Singer Jim Chim, who was present as a volunteer distributing supplies, expressed deep disdain for people coming from other districts to 'grab' supplies—sometimes taking one or two bags and even openly taking a taxi away—and harshly criticized them, saying they were 'even worse than beggars.'

He wrote: 'I saw so many people who weren’t from Tai Po come and take supplies, then call a taxi away with bags of goods. They can afford a taxi, but can’t buy bananas... or biscuits... Truly even worse than beggars... such greedy people!'

Netizens harshly criticized such theft as absolutely intolerable, saying karma will catch up, while Jim Chim commented: 'There are all kinds of people in the world—just record the evidence, no need to get angry.' He is the lead singer of Enjoyable Band, made it to the top 40 in ViuTV’s talent show “King Maker III,” and has hosted ViuTV programs such as “Kids & Girls 730,” “School God Trouble Alert,” and “MM730 – Fans’ Welfare Office.” He debuted in the music industry this year. Because he serves as Group CEO at his mother’s Hong Kong-listed company 'Modern Beauty,' he is said to own a beauty empire worth over 1 billion HKD (about 531 million MYR), making him one of the wealthiest singers in the industry. However, he’s known for being down-to-earth and not having the typical ‘wealthy second generation’ attitude.
