The devastating fire at Hong Kong’s Tai Po Wang Fuk Court has killed over a hundred people, shocking the world and generating endless news and discussion. Many artists have canceled their planned local entertainment events out of respect for the somber mood. However, Hong Kong actress Miriam Yeung’s 'Live MY LIVE 2025' concert series, scheduled for six shows at the Red Pavilion from November 29th, is proceeding as planned, with an announcement that all proceeds from the first show will go to support those affected by the disaster—yet the decision still stirs controversy.

Miriam Yeung’s concert tickets are already sold out. After the tragic fire occurred on the 26th, resulting in significant casualties, the public speculated whether the concerts would be canceled or postponed. The organizers responded that the shows would continue as scheduled, explaining the difficulties in making adjustments, which sparked online debate.

In a statement, the organizers said: “Due to scheduling and production constraints, we are unable to reschedule. Many fans from around the world have already arranged flights and accommodations for these shows. After much consideration, the concerts will be held as planned.”

The statement also urged people not to send flower baskets, suggesting that the funds be donated for relief efforts. The concert program was modified—firework effects were canceled, and the hope is to convey warmth and strength through music. It was also announced that all proceeds from the first show and surrounding merchandise sales would be donated entirely to disaster relief and reconstruction efforts.

Miriam Yeung went on to perform as planned. Some netizens criticized, “only thinking about money,” and questioned if it was appropriate to have music and entertainment at such a time. Others argued that donations could truly help the victims and considered the handling of the situation appropriate, hoping that everyone could get through this difficult period together.
In addition, the equally major Korean 'MAMA Awards' was also held as scheduled over two nights starting the 28th, but made considerable changes to the program, with a much more solemn atmosphere compared to the usual awards ceremony.

On the other hand, on the 27th Shawn Yue posted photos of himself riding a large motorcycle on social media, writing: “Road trip – a man’s romance.” Some netizens criticized him for apparently enjoying himself and not commenting on the Hong Kong fire. He soon deleted the photos, and then shared reports and relief information about the fire on his Instagram story.

Later, Shawn Yue also reposted a statement from his own brand 'MADNESS', stating that as a Hong Kong brand, even though resources may be limited, they still wanted to contribute. “We will donate this week’s revenue to support those affected by the fire, especially in the areas of mental pressure, psychological health, and trauma recovery for both people and their pets.”

The brand’s statement also specifically thanked firefighters, paramedics, and volunteers for their selfless professionalism during the disaster, and reminded everyone to stay safe and warm. They closed by expressing hope for Hong Kong’s well-being.

Additionally, Shawn Yue filmed the Taiwanese drama 'Convenience Store 1999' two years ago with Lee Lee-zen, Lin Mei-hsiu, and Megan Lai. However, despite finishing shooting nearly two years ago, there has been no further news. The producer, Gameflier, confirmed the series is being reshot with a new cast. All original actors and crew have been fully compensated, with no labor disputes reported. Shawn Yue has not commented on this matter.
