Promoting Midnight Sun Tourism: Finland Launches Summer Treasure Hunt

When people think of Finland's Lapland region, the first things that come to mind are snowy landscapes, Santa Claus, and reindeer. To boost summer midnight sun tourism, the local area has launched a summer treasure hunt activity, where the "treasure" is a gold bar worth 20,000 euros (about 93,175 ringgit).

According to CNN, the treasure hunt is called "The Hunt for the Midnight Sun" and will run from June 18th to August 22nd. During this period, tourists will gather at the well-known Levi ski resort, and by solving various clues and exploring hiking trails and popular attractions, they will search for the hidden treasure.

The organizers stated that they will gradually release more clues as the event progresses, thereby lowering the difficulty of the treasure hunt.

The organizers also pointed out that the treasure hunt does not require digging or any form of land disturbance. Participants must remain within the designated area.

Levi Ski Resort is located within the Arctic Circle and is Finland's top skiing destination as well as a popular winter tourist hotspot.

Pertti Pesonen, CEO of the local tourism promotion company "Visit Levi," said: "Levi is famous for its winters, but the northern summer still remains an unknown for many people ... We hope to offer travelers a brand-new reason to visit Levi, allowing them to experience its completely different side, enjoy the never-setting sun and the landscape of the hills."
