U.S. President Trump stated to the media at the White House on the 4th that if the United States reaches an agreement with Iran, he may meet with Iran’s Supreme Leader Mojtaba.
At first, Trump said he did not wish to meet with Mojtaba, but then added that if the U.S. and Iran reach an agreement, it is indeed possible for the two to meet, and he remains open to the idea.
He said he had not proposed such a meeting himself, but indeed some people had brought it up.
He stated: “If this happens... I will show the proper respect.”
When asked whether Iran killing U.S. soldiers would cross the red line for restarting hostilities, Trump stated: “That’s certainly a sufficient reason. Frankly, if they actually killed our soldiers, I think I would not hesitate to take action.”
He also pointed out that the U.S. can obtain Iran’s enriched uranium without reaching an agreement.
He said: “If we wanted to, I don’t think they could stop us, but it’s not necessary—those things have already been deeply buried and sealed.”
He noted that the U.S. Space Force is closely monitoring the ruins of nuclear facilities buried with Iran’s highly enriched uranium, and would take necessary action if anyone approaches.
Trump admitted that the U.S. had considered sending troops into Iran to excavate that enriched uranium, but now believes such an action would be too large in scale and too risky.
