The Liberal Democratic Party led by Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi achieved a historic victory in the House of Representatives election on the 8th, securing two-thirds of the seats in the chamber on its own. The LDP plans to convene a special Diet session next week to hold the prime minister designation election, with Sanae Takaichi almost certain to be reappointed.
The prime minister designation election is expected to be held as soon as the 18th (next Wednesday).
According to Japanese media, Sanae Takaichi will step up coordination efforts to form her second Cabinet, and on the afternoon of the 9th, will meet with Japan Innovation Party leader Hirofumi Yoshimura to confirm the continuation of their coalition government. That evening, she will hold a press conference at LDP headquarters to clarify her future governing policy.
Hirofumi Yoshimura emphasized that the policies outlined in the coalition agreement would be implemented, focusing particularly on the initiative to make Osaka a secondary capital.
