ENGKILILI,25 May: More than RM200,000 has been allocated to support rural development initiatives within the Lubok Antu parliamentary constituency.
This was disclosed by Lubok Antu MP Roy Angau Gingkoi during the Segulai Sejalai Nuju Pemansang Menua Lubok Antu programme held at Rumah Bangkong here, yesterday (24 May).
He said the funds aim to improve infrastructure, strengthen village administration, and empower women at the grassroots level.
Of the total allocation, RM150,000 has been allocated for the construction of an awning to provide residents with greater comfort during community events.
An additional RM30,000 has been set aside for the provision of canopies to support local programmes, including social and cultural activities.
Meanwhile, the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Rumah Bangkong received RM20,000 to assist with administrative and management needs.
The Women’s Bureau was granted RM8,000 to encourage greater female participation in village development efforts.
Roy noted that the government’s development agenda extends beyond physical infrastructure alone.
“Development should not only focus on physical aspects but also on improving management, strengthening social structures, and encouraging community involvement in planning their future,” he said.
