(Johor, 28th) PAS Deputy President Dato’ Seri Tuan Ibrahim has called on PAS members and supporters to vote for UMNO or Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates in constituencies where Perikatan Nasional (PN) does not field a candidate in the Johor state election.
He firmly believes that party members understand the importance of unity within the Muslim community, and agrees that PN is the platform to achieve this goal.
"PAS instructs its members and supporters to vote for UMNO or BN candidates in state constituencies where PN does not contest."
"This is what we emphasize to our members: do not cast your votes for Pakatan Harapan."
In this state election, PAS is contesting 11 seats, Bersatu 16 seats, Malaysian Indian People’s Party 5 seats, while Pejuang is contesting 1 seat; Gerakan has chosen not to participate.
Meanwhile, BN is contesting all 56 seats and has reiterated its decision to contest independently, without electoral cooperation with any other political party and with no intention of forming a joint state government with other parties; the federal government coalition partner of BN—Pakatan Harapan—is also contesting all 56 seats.
On the other hand, PAS Secretary-General Dato’ Seri Takiyuddin stated that PAS will decide on Monday whether to continue supporting Bersatu, as well as the party's subsequent direction in the Johor state election.
He said that the relevant decision will be made at a special PAS Central Committee meeting convened at 5 p.m. on Monday.
