Sports Shape Excellence and Unity – Tutong Chung Hwa Exhibits Sporting Spirit

(Tutong, 14th) Tutong Chung Hwa School will hold its annual “2026 Inter-school Sports Day” on Saturday, June 27, 2026, at 7:30am at the Tutong Sports Complex field, with the theme "Sports Shape Excellence and Unity".
This sports day is one of the school’s major annual extracurricular events. It aims to encourage students to actively participate in sports, cultivate healthy lifestyle habits, discipline, and high sportsmanship, while also promoting connections and cooperation among teachers, students, parents, and the school.
The activities of the day will begin at 7am, with teachers and students arriving at the venue to register, followed by the reception of parents and guests. At 7:45am, the guest of honor, Dato Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, will arrive at the venue to a warm welcome from the school and students.
The opening ceremony will officially commence at 8am. All teachers and students will first participate in a lively Zumba and aerobic warm-up exercise, bringing high spirits to the site. Afterwards, the four house teams, led by their house flags, will march into the venue with vigor, showcasing teamwork and a progressive sporting spirit.
During the ceremony, all teachers and students will stand solemnly to sing the national anthem and school song, followed by a prayer led by Ustaz Rosman bin Haji Kamis, praying for the smooth success of the sports day.
Next, student representative Muhammad Shah Rafiuddin Iman bin Haji Shah Ronieman will recite the athlete’s oath, pledging to participate in all events with the spirit of fair competition, friendship first, competition second.
Subsequently, the principal of Tutong Chung Hwa School, Cikgu Haji Yahya bin Haji Abdul Rahman, will deliver a welcome speech, encouraging students to strive for excellence in the competition, demonstrate their best abilities, and cultivate resilience, teamwork, and good discipline.
The guest of honor, Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, in his speech, praised the school’s long-term commitment to the development of sports activities and encouraged students to strengthen their bodies, foster team spirit, and pursue a healthy lifestyle through sports. Amidst enthusiastic applause, the guest of honor officially presided over the opening ceremony.
With the opening ceremony concluded, various track and field events officially kicked off. Competing athletes gave their all, racing ahead on the track and field, demonstrating unyielding determination. Teachers, students, and parents in the stands all cheered on the contestants, with cheers and excitement filling the air.
After a day of intense and exciting competition, an award ceremony was held to honor outstanding athletes and winning teams in each event. Afterwards, all guests, teachers, and students joined the closing tea party, drawing a perfect conclusion to this year’s sports day.
This year’s sports day featured a total of 35 events, covering fun obstacle courses, sprints, relays, long jump, shot put, indoor football, and tug of war.
In addition, several fun parent-child and parent competitions were specially arranged, including balloon stomping, sarong running and tug of war, to strengthen interaction between home and school.
All competition events offered gold, silver, and bronze awards, recognizing outstanding athletes and teams. Individual event gold medalists earned 5 points, silver 3 points, and bronze 1 point; for group events, teams received 20, 15, and 10 points respectively. The team with the highest total points was awarded the overall championship.
The school established a complete organizing committee and working groups, responsible for technical, disciplinary, safety, photography, broadcasting, prizes, and logistics affairs, ensuring smooth execution of the event.
The school expresses sincere gratitude for the strong support and assistance from guest of honor Awang Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan, the school board, Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG), Private Education Department, Tutong Sports Complex, and RTB Tutong. The concerted efforts of all parties not only ensured the smooth-running of the event but also fully demonstrated the community’s spirit of advancing education and sports hand in hand.
The school stated its hope that the sports day would discover students’ athletic potential, cultivate progressive, cooperative, and competitive spirits, and further promote the development of campus sports culture.
