(Bandar Seri Begawan, 14th) The 2026 China-ASEAN Book & Culture Week Brunei Special Event has officially debuted at the Brunei National Book Fair (Pesta Buku Brunei), with its dedicated exhibition area located at booths No. 20 and 21 of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Indoor Stadium. This year’s book fair officially opened on July 11 and will run until July 21.
The Brunei National Book Fair, led and organized by the Language and Literature Bureau under the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, is the largest and most representative national reading event in Brunei, long favored and loved by people from all walks of life, students, and literary enthusiasts across the country.
This 2026 China-ASEAN Book & Culture Week is hosted by Guangxi Publishing & Media Group and organized by China National Publications Import & Export (Group) Corporation. It features a collection of multilingual publicity publications interpreting contemporary Chinese development achievements, Chinese classical cultural works, popular science books, traditional Chinese medicine works, books on Guangxi’s local history and culture, as well as various children’s picture books—mainly from Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region—bringing Bruneian readers a rich and diverse range of Chinese reading resources.
In addition to book displays, the exhibition area has created multiple immersive cultural interaction experiences, including a calligraphy zone, literature sharing sessions, picture book reading, and offers the experience of trying on distinctive Guangxi ethnic costumes. At the same time, renowned Bruneian Chinese authors are invited to interact and share their insights and writing experiences with readers, further promoting local literary creation and cultural exchange.
The inclusion of the China-ASEAN Book & Culture Week in the national-level book fair greatly enriches the international dimension of Brunei’s national reading activities, builds a friendly platform for educational and cultural exchange and mutual learning between the two countries, further deepens local society’s understanding of Chinese culture, and continuously solidifies the friendly foundation of mutual understanding between the peoples of China and Brunei.
