Temporary Closure of Sections of Jalan Sultan Tengah for Rainforest World Music Festival

(Kuching, 24th) In conjunction with the 2026 Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF), the authorities will temporarily close a section of Jalan Sultan Tengah near the Damai and Country Club junctions from June 26 to 28, daily from 8:00 AM to 12:00 midnight, to ease traffic congestion.

Kuching District Police Chief Alexson Naga Chabu stated that as the road capacity in the area is limited during the event, coupled with insufficient parking spaces, it is necessary for the authorities to implement temporary road closures to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety.

He said that festival-goers are urged to park their vehicles at designated parking areas along the route to Damai and the Country Club junction, and then take the shuttle buses provided by the event to the venue—Sarawak Cultural Village.

"This road closure measure is intended to ensure smoother traffic flow around the event venue. We urge the public to cooperate and refrain from parking illegally to avoid obstructing traffic flow."

He also suggested that those attending the festival plan their trips in advance to avoid traffic jams and to ensure smooth travel during the event.
