(Miri, 30th) The Miri Chung Hua Middle School (Miri Chung Hua) robotics team delivered an outstanding performance at the 2025 World Robot Olympiad (WRO) International Final held in Singapore recently, clinching 2 gold and 1 silver medals. This achievement contributed valuable points to Team Malaysia, helping the country to secure the overall championship of this year's event.
This year's theme was "Robots for the Future," focusing on how robotics technology can help address global challenges and improve people's lives by providing solutions in fields such as sustainability, health, and accessibility. Nearly 600 teams competed across four categories: Robot Missions, Robosports, Future Innovators, and Future Engineers, showcasing their innovative solutions to real-world problems through hands-on robotic challenges.

Cai Youlan: Miri Chung Hua Brings Glory to the Nation Again, Continues to Nurture High-Tech Talent
Miri Chung Hua Board Chairperson Tan Sri Datuk Paduka Cai Youlan congratulated the robotics team for once again making a name for themselves overseas, bringing honor to the school, the state, and the nation. She pointed out that the WRO enables students to grasp the essence of STEM education through hands-on exploration, closely integrating science and technology into life.
She emphasized that WRO not only enhances teenagers' creativity but also strengthens their communication and collaboration skills, which is significant for promoting innovative education. She firmly believes that Miri Chung Hua will continue to nurture more high-tech talent for the nation.
Chairperson Cai stated that the success of the Miri Chung Hua robotics team is no coincidence, but rather the product of collaboration among the whole school's teaching staff, including Principal Lai Jia Ling, Vice Principal Ong Tong Zhen, robotics team advisors Teacher Danny, Teacher Jazz Ting, Teacher Chen Zhilin, and head coach Wu Jialong.
It is worth mentioning that Wu Jialong is an alumnus of the Miri Chung Hua robotics team. After graduation, he continued to return to the school to train his juniors and founded TESSLAB ROBOTICS, dedicated to promoting robotics education.

In addition, assistant coach Lai Wenle is a Miri Chung Hua alumnus as well as champion of the Borneo International Robotics Competition Robosports event, and has devoted himself wholeheartedly to coaching. Meanwhile, Alumni Association President Zhang Yuande, who has embodied the Chung Hua spirit of gratefulness, is also highly praised. The two of them jointly assisted the Future Innovators (Senior) team to win the "2025 Saudi Aramco Innovation Award" silver medal.
In this competition, a total of 70 teams took part in the "Future Innovators" 2025 Saudi Aramco Innovation Award category. This is one of the categories in the World Robot Olympiad (WRO), a project-based challenge where young teams develop robotic solutions to address global issues. This year, instead of having a single champion, the Aramco Innovation Award was given to the top three teams.
As part of the reward, the three winning teams will travel to Seoul, South Korea, for an exclusive innovation experience. This experience will provide students with curated academic exchanges, industry interactions, and immersive cultural experiences.
During the visit, participants will connect with leading universities, technology innovators, and cultural institutions to gain in-depth insights into one of the world's most dynamic innovation ecosystems.
This experience underscores WRO's commitment to nurturing scientific curiosity and innovative thinking, aiming to inspire students to continue their studies in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) fields and contribute to future research.

Lai Jia Ling: Thanks to All for Support, Parents’ Dedication Enables Children to Go Further
Principal Lai Jia Ling thanked the Ministry of Education, Sarawak Education Bureau, Miri District Education Office, the Parent-Teacher Association, and parents for their full support, enabling Miri Chung Hua students to gain international recognition and bring glory to the country.
She pointed out that the students' success is inseparable from parental commitment and companionship, from driving them for training, preparing meals, to daily care—these are crucial forces that enable children to fully commit to training. “The facts show that children whose parents are highly involved can go further and more steadily.”
She said that the Miri Chung Hua robotics team has represented the country in international competitions for consecutive years, and once again helped Malaysia clinch the world championship this year with remarkable results. The entire school community is looking forward to the team's participation in the 2026 World Robot Olympiad Final in Puerto Rico.
