50-year-old Charmaine Sheh Chooses Not to Marry or Have Children, Sets Up Will to Leave 100 Million Inheritance to 3 Close Relatives

Hong Kong TV Queen Charmaine Sheh has reached a new career peak with her starring role in "The Queen of News 2." Recently, in a media interview, she candidly stated that she is not pursuing marriage or having children at this stage in life, and the recent loss of loved ones has made her realize the impermanence of life. She has prepared her will in advance, leaving her NT$800 million (about RM100 million) fortune to three close relatives.

According to "Hong Kong 01," Charmaine Sheh has accumulated considerable wealth in her 28-year career, and was once listed in Forbes China Celebrity List, with an estimated net worth of NT$800 million (about RM100 million). Her godfather, Hui Siu Hung, recently passed away, which left her very saddened. Having experienced family illnesses and the death of mentors, she gained new insights into life, prompting her to finalize her personal will arrangements.

Charmaine Sheh pointed out that these savings were hard-earned, and if something were to happen to her in the future, she would not want the wealth she struggled to build to be wasted. So, according to her wishes, she decided to leave the majority of her inheritance to her mother and two brothers.

Now aged 50, she mentioned that if she could go back 20 years, she would want to fall in love, get married, and have children; but now, having entered the second half of her life, her mindset has shifted, and she finds herself facing separation and loss more frequently. Seeing her close female friends endure the hardships of marriage—"it's far more exhausting than acting"—has shattered her longing for marriage and childbearing. She has thus determined not to put herself under that pressure, and would rather remain a single aristocrat, not forcing fate.

In the interview, Charmaine Sheh revealed that her mother was once gravely ill, and since then, she intentionally cut her workload by half, trying to stay in Hong Kong to accompany her mother. Now, every year on her birthday, her only wish is for her mother’s health.

Although life is full of uncertainties, Charmaine Sheh maintains an optimistic and open-minded attitude, believing that everyone must go through birth, aging, sickness, and death. Instead of worrying about an uncontrollable future, she prefers to cherish her time and do meaningful things for herself and those around her—which is the lifestyle she most wants to uphold at this stage in life.
