Revealing Anita Mui's 'Desire to Be the Big Sister'—Mrs. Charles Heung: She Was Exceptionally Respectful Towards Me

The late Hong Kong star Anita Mui was influential as a singer, actress, and trendsetter—her extraordinary stage presence and immense influence earned her the title of 'Queen of Pop'. However, renowned producer Mrs. Charles Heung (Chan Lam) recently revealed that although Anita Mui was known for her fiery temper and desire to be the 'boss lady', 'Anita was exceptionally respectful towards me', and once even ended up saving the Heung brothers because of it.

Mrs. Heung recounted that Charles Heung's younger brother, Jimmy Heung, once approached Anita Mui to discuss a collaboration. Jimmy Heung, accustomed to 'throwing money around' to directly request someone to take a role, displayed this same attitude—but Anita Mui disliked this approach. 'Then things escalated to the point of the table being flipped over. (Jimmy Heung) came back looking dejected and said, "Sister-in-law, it's over, I messed up the negotiation." The two brothers looked at me and said, "You have to go talk and fix this."'

Later, Mrs. Heung personally met Anita Mui. It was the first time the two had met. Mrs. Heung said she did not immediately bring up the idea of working together. Instead, she first hugged Anita Mui and expressed her great fondness for her. The two chatted for a long time, 'We were so happy that at the moment it felt like we wanted to become sworn sisters—we talked and felt we could be close confidants.' In the end, it was Anita Mui herself who brought up the idea of collaborating and readily agreed to take the role.
