(Kuching, 12th) A 31-year-old local man is suspected of intruding into the premises of an apartment at Jalan Patingan, Kuching, and was arrested about 24 hours after the incident.

Kuching District Police Chief Alickson Naga Chabu pointed out that the police received a report from a man at 1:08 pm on August 10, stating that an incident of illegal entry into residential premises occurred around 11:35 am that day.

He said that after receiving the report, the Kuching District Criminal Investigation Department (BSJD) dispatched personnel to conduct investigations and intelligence gathering to track down the suspect.

He said in a statement today that after investigative actions, the suspect was successfully arrested around 1:40 pm yesterday.

The police also seized several items believed to be related to the case to assist further investigations.

He said that after checking records, police found that the suspect did not have any criminal record.

"However, preliminary urine screening showed that the man tested positive for drugs."

Alickson stated that the case is currently being investigated under Section 447 of the Penal Code, namely for criminal trespass.

He said that if convicted, the accused may face a maximum imprisonment of 6 months, or a fine not exceeding RM3,000, or both.

Meanwhile, he advised residential management to strengthen security measures to ensure that all entrances and exits are properly closed and locked.

"The public is also urged not to allow strangers into restricted areas, and if any suspicious movement or activity is observed, it should be reported to the police immediately. Any relevant information can be relayed to the Kuching District Police Headquarters Operations Room at 082-244444."
