(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) To celebrate the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Oman and Brunei, the Embassy of Oman in Brunei Darussalam today held a grand launching ceremony for the commemorative book "Oman–Brunei: A Dynamic Present and a Prosperous Future—Commemorating the 40th Anniversary of Oman-Brunei Diplomatic Relations" at the Grand Hall of the Mulia Hotel.
This ceremonious and friendship-filled event marked the deep ties and collaborative achievements forged over 40 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries. Brunei's Ministry of Foreign Affairs Permanent Secretary Pengiran Norhashimah attended the event as the Guest of Honour.
Oman's Ambassador to Brunei, Erma Said Al-Kathiri, stated in her speech that the book not only records history but also symbolizes the strong partnership built on a shared vision and longstanding values between the two nations.
She pointed out that the book was collaboratively published by Comquest Ltd, a joint venture established by Bahwan CyberTek of Oman and Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd of Brunei, embodying the spirit of cooperation between both sides. The contents of the book have been meticulously reviewed and faithfully reflect the development of bilateral relations.
Comquest’s Director of Business Development, Amalina Diana, also delivered remarks at the event, expressing honor and pride for the company’s participation in this important international record of friendship. The event’s highlight was the official launch of the book’s digital edition, symbolizing a fusion of tradition and modernity. Subsequently, Her Excellency the Ambassador presented a commemorative gift to the Guest of Honour.
Guests also watched a documentary showcasing Oman’s magnificent tourism landscape and investment potential, and enjoyed traditional Omani cuisine and cultural displays, creating a warm and culturally rich atmosphere.
This commemorative book contains 24 chapters, featuring addresses from both countries’ foreign ministers, forewords by the ambassadors, and memoirs by the first ambassadors posted to each other’s country. It meticulously records high-level visits, bilateral meetings, signed agreements, and cooperation across various fields including trade, investment, energy, and defense.
The book also highlights achievements in cultural and educational exchanges as well as youth empowerment, underscoring the key role played by the Omani Embassy in Brunei as a vital hub promoting bilateral relations.
