(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) The opening ceremony of the 2025 Universiti Brunei Darussalam Sports Carnival was held at University Sports Centre Field A, with all faculty, students, and invited guests gathered together to witness the official launch of this year’s cross-faculty sports activities.
This event was jointly organized by the Sports & Recreation Executive Committee and the Student Activities and Development Unit of the Student Affairs Office. The Sports Carnival will run from December 16, 2025, to April 19, 2026.
The opening ceremony commenced with a speech by the guest of honour, UBD Deputy Vice Chancellor Nur Azam, followed by a recitation of Al-Fātiḥah and prayers.
Subsequently, the 2025 PMUBD Games Event Coordinator and Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Sports & Recreation Division, Mohd Hazmi, delivered the welcoming address. The guest of honour then officiated the opening of the games, marking the start of the inter-faculty competitions. Afterwards, four sports faculties participated in a parade: these were Qing Dynasty Academy, Hellenic Empire Academy, Abbasid Dynasty Academy, and Persian Empire Academy. The athletes collectively recited the “Sports Oath” (Ikrar Sukan), reaffirming their commitment to sportsmanship and teamwork. This was followed by spectacular field performances from each faculty.
A series of exciting competitions, such as tug-of-war and athletics, further heightened the atmosphere, showcasing the dedication and vitality of UBD athletes as they competed on behalf of their respective faculties.
Subsequently, an award ceremony was held to present prizes and awards to outstanding participants and teams, bringing the opening ceremony to a successful conclusion. This opening laid a spirited foundation for the 2025 UBD Games.
