After a strong earthquake struck the eastern waters of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula, various U.S. regions, including Hawaii, Alaska, the West Coast, and Guam, activated different levels of tsunami warning systems on the 29th local time.

The U.S. National Weather Service’s National Tsunami Warning Center issued a tsunami alert for Alaska’s Aleutian Islands and Hawaii after the earthquake, as well as a tsunami watch for California, Oregon, and Washington. Alerts were also issued for Guam and American Samoa.

According to U.S. media reports, the first wave of the tsunami triggered by the earthquake is expected to reach the Hawaiian Islands at around 7:10 p.m. local time on the 29th, and a destructive tsunami may occur. Hawaii State has activated its statewide alert system, and sirens have been sounded on all islands.

The Honolulu Emergency Management Department has urged some coastal residents to evacuate and said that a "destructive tsunami" is possible.

The U.S. tsunami warning system is divided into four levels, with a "Tsunami Alert" being the highest level and a "Tsunami Watch" being the second highest.
