Taiwanese celebrity Huang Zijiao was previously sentenced to 8 months in prison for purchasing and downloading child sexual exploitation material, with over 2,000 videos found in his possession. During the appeal process, last August he allegedly hit a woman surnamed Lin who was riding a scooter while driving through the Sanchong District of New Taipei City, then left the scene and was prosecuted. Huang denied the hit-and-run charges but reached a settlement with the woman, after which she withdrew her complaint. The New Taipei District Prosecutor's Office charged Huang with hit-and-run, while the negligent injury charge was dropped. On the 27th, the New Taipei District Court held the first hearing, during which Huang denied wrongdoing; the judge announced the case will be transferred to a trial court for further proceedings.
In December of the year before last, Huang was sentenced to 8 months in prison. While appealing to the High Court, on August 24 last year at 7:39 AM, he was involved in a collision with Ms. Lin on her scooter. Lin's vehicle fell to the ground, and she suffered facial abrasions, a right forearm abrasion, a left elbow abrasion, and a right knee abrasion. After the incident, Huang did not check on Lin and left the scene on his own. During the investigation, Huang denied any wrongdoing, arguing that the scooter was in front of his left side, and at the time his focus was towards the left; he does not remember if he looked to the right and claims he did not notice any collision or sound of a collision.
