According to Europa Press, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum stated that about one million people tried to purchase tickets for the May concert in Mexico by the Korean pop supergroup BTS, but only 150,000 tickets were available. She has already written to the South Korean Prime Minister, urging BTS to consider adding more concerts in Mexico.
BTS will kick off their tour on April 9 at the Goyang Sports Complex Main Stadium in Seoul, and will hold a total of 82 concerts in 34 cities across North America, Europe, South America, and Asia. Even before the tour officially starts, it has already had immediate effects on local tourism and the economy in various regions. According to reports, BTS’s world tour is scheduled from April to September, including three concerts in Mexico on May 7, 9, and 10. Sheinbaum has officially sent a letter to South Korean Prime Minister Kim Min-seok, urging BTS to increase the number of shows in Mexico.
In her statement, Sheinbaum said: “I wrote a letter…asking them to come a few more times. I haven’t received a reply yet, but I hope it’s positive. Or to allow the setup of screens. In any case, we want to find a way for young people to connect with this group that is so popular around the world, especially in Mexico.”
