(Kuching, 14th) — The Sarawak government has approved an additional allocation of 4 million ringgit to the Dayak Bidayuh National Association (DBNA), raising the total allocation to 20 million ringgit, for the completion of the association's community hostel facilities.
The Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari, stated that this additional allocation is a continuation of the initial allocation of 16 million ringgit in 2020.
“The 16 million ringgit was still not enough, and the furniture was still incomplete, so I approved an additional 4 million ringgit, bringing the total funds to 20 million ringgit.”
“This is the only way we help the people, and all this is because we are united and have a strong economy.”

Abang Johari made the above remarks while officiating the unveiling ceremony of the DBNA community hostel during the association's 70th anniversary celebration last night.
The Premier added that the construction of the hostel demonstrates the Sarawak government's support for the Bidayuh community, allowing them to have landmark buildings just like other ethnic groups in Sarawak.
In fact, he added that the Bidayuh community has played an important role in social development, cultivating the high-skilled workforce needed to advance the state's development agenda.
“The Bidayuh community has the highest proportion of graduates, in other words, your hard work will produce the engineers we need. Therefore, you are role models for other ethnic groups.”
Meanwhile, Sarawak's Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development and DBNA Advisor, Datuk Seri Roland Sagah, said the community hostel aims to provide affordable transportation facilities for Sarawak residents, especially for educational and medical purposes.
This nine-storey building has the association's office on the first floor; the second floor has five dormitory units accommodating 56 people; from the second to eighth floors there are 96 accommodation units, accommodating 188 people.
The ninth floor features a multifunctional rooftop space that can be used for various events and corporate activities.
