A shocking suspected child abuse case has occurred in Ohio, USA. A 35-year-old woman, Lesure, is accused of injecting feces into her hospitalized infant’s intravenous infusion tube while accompanying the child in the hospital. Staff at the facility discovered the act and immediately reported it to the police. The exposure of the case has sparked public outcry.

According to court documents and police information, the incident occurred on February 6 at Nationwide Children’s Hospital in Columbus. Hospital staff witnessed Lesure injecting “foreign substances” into the baby’s IV drip and promptly notified the police. Subsequent review of security camera footage in the ward showed her entering the restroom with a cup, later exiting with what appeared to be feces, and using a syringe to inject it into the IV line attached to the infant’s left hand.

Police stated that the medical team immediately examined the baby. Due to patient privacy laws, the hospital has not disclosed the child’s current health condition. Lesure was arrested on the spot and charged with “child endangerment,” with additional aggravating factors of “torture and cruel abuse.”

The case is being heard in Franklin County Court. The defendant appeared in court recently, and the judge approved bail, but the amount is as high as $250,000 (976,300 Malaysian ringgit), with multiple conditions attached, including no contact with minors, no possession of weapons, and no alcohol or drug use.

It is understood that Lesure has several children. According to her social media profiles, she lost a premature infant in 2022. Police and medical authorities are further investigating her motives and whether there are other potential victims involved. The case is expected to be heard again on the 19th of this month.
