According to recent reports from US media, a 33-year-old pet cockatiel from a family in Illinois has been officially recognized by Guinness World Records as the "world's longest-lived cockatiel."
This cockatiel, named Sunny, was born in 1993 and officially received the title last October at the age of 32 years and 292 days. Just a few months later, it celebrated its 33rd birthday on January 10 this year.
Given that the average lifespan of a cockatiel is about 10 to 15 years, Sunny has lived more than twice as long as her peers. Her owners believe the secret to her longevity lies in a healthy diet and rich social activities, and she even sits on her owner's lap to watch TV together.
