A large product oil tanker owned by a Chinese shipowner caught fire on deck after being attacked this week in the waters at the entrance to the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Chinese financial news outlet Caixin, the large product oil tanker was attacked on the 4th outside the Port of Al Jayer, UAE, at the entrance of the Strait of Hormuz. At the time of the attack, the vessel was identified as “CHINA OWNER&CREW.”
An informed shipping industry insider told Caixin that this is the first time a Chinese oil tanker has been attacked, stating that “it is very difficult to accept psychologically.”
