(Manila, 3rd) – The Philippine government will implement a three-phase increase in the basic salaries of military, police, and other uniformed personnel (MUP) nationwide starting in 2026, underscoring their vital role on the front lines of national security and disaster response.
President Marcos announced via video yesterday that this salary hike will cover personnel under the Department of National Defense, the Department of the Interior and Local Government, the Philippine Coast Guard, the Bureau of Corrections, and the National Mapping and Resource Information Authority. The raises will be rolled out in three batches, taking effect on January 1 of 2026, 2027, and 2028, respectively.
In addition to basic salaries, the daily meal allowance for all uniformed personnel will also be raised from the current 150 pesos to 350 pesos, effective January 1, 2026.
Marcos stated that the military, police, and uniformed units are always the first to respond to the nation's call—regardless of facing danger to their lives, they dedicate themselves across land, sea, and air. “You never hesitate to sacrifice your own safety to protect every Filipino,” he said.
He noted that in the past few months, the country has faced successive challenges and disasters, but military and police personnel have remained at their posts, taking on the greatest risks to ensure the safety of communities. “This administration believes that those who protect the nation must themselves be protected by the nation.”
Marcos stressed that fair pay and strong support are promises that the country and its people owe to those who defend them.
