Thai Prime Minister's Office Spokesperson Siripong stated on the 2nd that the Thai Cabinet has agreed to use the emergency reserve fund from the central budget of the 2026 fiscal year to provide funeral compensation to flood victims in the declared emergency areas of Songkhla province, with a subsidy of 2 million baht (approximately 257,800 ringgit) per deceased.
He said that 1 million baht comes from the Prime Minister's Office Disaster Relief Fund, and another 1 million baht from the central budget.
He pointed out that the Thai Cabinet has also approved an allocation of 530 million baht to Songkhla province for the restoration of living conditions in the flood-affected areas of Hat Yai district.
In response to whether victims from other southern provinces can also receive the 2 million baht per person compensation, Siripong stated that so far, the Cabinet has only deliberated on the relevant compensation for the emergency area of Songkhla province, and has not yet discussed the situation in other provinces.
