Wan Junaidi's Dedication: Sarawak's Historic Victory

(Kuching, 11th) Kota Sentosa assemblyman Yeo Yao Xing stated that the Sarawak Governor Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s efforts in defending Sarawak’s rights represent a historically significant victory, successfully correcting the longstanding constitutional imbalance.
He said this includes Wan Junaidi’s dedication in upholding the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and promoting the 2021 Federal Constitution Amendment, enabling Sarawak and Sabah to regain their equal partner status as at the founding of Malaysia.

“This is a milestone historical victory that has rectified the constitutional imbalance that existed for a long time, and also consolidates the position of MA63 in the nation’s supreme law.
“It further affirms Sarawak’s rights in autonomy, resources, and identity, which are statutory rights that must be safeguarded for the next generation,” he said.
He fully supports Wan Junaidi’s call for everyone to unite through education, professional competence, and integrity, to jointly uphold Sarawak’s voice.
At the same time, he also pledged to nurture a younger generation that understands the constitutional foundations and moral responsibilities, so that they recognize their mission as Sarawakians.
“The speech delivered by the Sarawak Governor at the recent graduation ceremony at University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) was not only an address to the graduates, but also a profound reminder to all Sarawakians—who we are, and what we must safeguard.”

“I urge young graduates, especially the youth of Kota Sentosa, to not only pursue a job, but to also use knowledge and skills to seek their life’s purpose, contributing innovation and meaning to the community and the state. Sarawak’s future will depend on the extent to which we can build our own strength, knowledge, and integrity,” he said.
Yeo Yao Xing also praised the Sarawak government’s establishment of the Office of the Ombudsman (Jabatan Ombudsman), considering it to be a model of clean and responsible governance, embodying the state government’s firm determination to act with integrity and transparency.
