The Singapore government obtained court orders from August last year to April this year to transfer approximately 20 million SGD (66.05 million MYR) previously seized and related to the 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) case to the Malaysian government.
The Singapore Police Force responded to media inquiries on the 16th stating that including this 20 million SGD, a total of about 124 million SGD (approximately 410 million MYR) has been returned to the Malaysian government so far. This amount was seized during the investigation into the flow of 1MDB funds. Singapore will continue to handle all related asset return requests in accordance with the law.
Singapore began a thorough investigation of the 1MDB scandal in 2015 and has since taken actions against the violating institutions and individuals, including ordering banks to cease operations, imposing fines, and prosecuting offenders.
