(Bandar Seri Begawan, 18th) In order to promote excellence in health, safety, and environment across various industries in Brunei and to create a collaborative and proactive platform, the Brunei Industrial Health, Safety and Environment Group (iHSEg) was officially launched on July 9th during the Workplace Safety & Health Conference 2025 (WSHCON) hosted by the National Safety, Health and Environment Authority (SHENA).
WSHCON 2025 was held at the Brunei International Convention Centre, bringing together regulators, industry leaders, and professionals to discuss key occupational safety, health, and environmental issues under the theme "Transforming Health and Safety: The Role of Artificial Intelligence and Digitalization in the Workplace."
Pehin Dato Hj Mat Suny bin Hj Md Hussein, Permanent Secretary (Energy), Prime Minister’s Office, officiated the launch of the iHSEg booth on behalf of the Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Defence, Dato Halbi.
The launch ceremony included a ribbon-cutting at the iHSEg booth, followed by a group photo of association members.
In his welcoming speech, Serikandi Group Chairman and Managing Director Shaikh Khalid introduced the vision and mission of iHSEg to distinguished guests, adding that as an independent, industry-led association, the organization aims to promote knowledge sharing, develop professional competence, and advocate for a unified voice in HSE matters, in line with Brunei Vision 2035, which strives to provide a high quality of life and ratifies ILO Convention No. 155 and No. 187.
This launch marks an important milestone for the Brunei HSE community, strengthening public-private cooperation and a joint commitment to building a resilient and sustainable safety culture nationwide.
