An 87-year-old man in Taiwan, allegedly unable to endure his wife's constant nagging over a long period, beat his 85-year-old wife to death with an iron rod and an iron ruler at their residence on the 7th, then called the police to turn himself in.

According to Taiwanese media reports, the suspect lives in Pingzhen District, Taoyuan City. That evening, police charged him with domestic violence and homicide and transferred him to the Taoyuan District Prosecutors Office. After questioning on the 8th, the prosecutor requested his detention and the Taoyuan District Court approved the request after a hearing.

It was reported that the crime occurred shortly after 2 p.m. The elderly man called the police to confess. At that moment, his daughter-in-law and son happened to come home for a visit and found the mother covered in injuries, lying on the living room sofa. The daughter-in-law also called the police, saying “my father-in-law killed my mother-in-law.” The son ran to the street to guide police and emergency personnel to the scene, but the elderly woman was already clearly dead and was not taken to the hospital.

Reportedly, the elderly man has three sons, but only the youngest son lives with him. On that day, the youngest son happened to be out. The deceased had suffered a fracture recently and had difficulty moving around, so the man needed to help take care of his wife. Unexpectedly, his wife nagged at him again, and with the daytime care worker absent, the man lost control and committed the act. First, he beat her with a wooden cane, and when it broke, he continued hitting her with an iron rod, striking her head and other parts. The second eldest son and his wife came to visit in the afternoon and discovered the mother dead on the sofa.

After questioning the man, the prosecutor found that he was suspected of homicide and requested his detention.
