(Kuala Belait, 26th) Yizhong (Kuala Belait Chung Hwa Middle School) Acting Board Chairman Mr. Chen Yong Kui, at today’s Teacher’s Day luncheon, delivered a speech on behalf of Chairman Mr. Liu Xiaoyuan, expressing gratitude for the principal’s outstanding leadership and the concerted effort and selfless dedication of all the staff. Everyone has devoted themselves to education without complaint or regret, burning themselves to illuminate the futures of countless students. Here, on behalf of the Board, I extend sincere holiday greetings and boundless gratitude to the principal and all staff members!
He noted that the recently successful 94th school anniversary gala was made possible by the hard work and teamwork of the principal and teachers, who guided and arranged for remarkable student performances. The spectacular shows not only garnered thunderous applause but also left a deep impression on the guests. This demonstrates the highest level of comprehensive ability of the Yizhong teaching team. Once again, I express my infinite gratitude to all the hardworking teachers!
“Education is a never-ending, great undertaking. All of you have chosen the noblest profession of humankind, quietly advancing human civilization and social progress. Teachers are not only the engineers of human souls but also the foundation layers for humanity’s mission of development. Your achievements may go unheralded, but they are nonetheless significant; you are the unsung heroes, the lights illuminating the future.”
He said that Yizhong’s achievements today could not have been accomplished without the support of all sectors of society, the cooperation of the Board, and, most importantly, the dedication and passing of the torch from generations of teachers. It takes ten years to grow a tree, but a hundred to educate a person. For over ninety years, it is through the efforts of generations of educators that Yizhong has borne abundant fruit. The path of education is long and challenging. We firmly believe that today’s teachers will uphold the spirit of their predecessors and continue to lead Yizhong into the future!
“The wheels of time roll forward, whether we are ready or not—we must face the challenges. Especially in the important position of education, nurturing future leaders requires us to keep up with the times and have foresight. As the digital age arrives and artificial intelligence advances rapidly, His Majesty the Sultan also especially emphasized at the National Teacher’s Day that AI must be integrated into the education system. Thus, I hope our teachers keep pace with the times, continue to improve their professional skills, and bravely embrace change.”
“It is heartening to see our principal leading by example—not only participating in local AI training, but also traveling to China multiple times for study and research. At the same time, many teachers and students have seized opportunities of the era, traveling to Singapore, China, and other places for exchanges and learning, broadening their horizons, clarifying the direction of future education, and injecting new vitality into the school’s improvement and students’ growth. I look forward to our principal and teachers continuing to work hard, hand in hand, towards the grand future of education in Brunei.”
He added that, while technology continues to advance, Yizhong has always remembered the founders’ original intention—to promote cultural inheritance and development. It is gratifying that, through the joint efforts of the principal and all teachers, cultural teaching continues to improve, and various traditional cultural activities are flourishing: from dance, lion dance, martial arts, Chinese orchestra, calligraphy, to cultural camps, student and teacher overseas exchanges, and the Mid-Autumn Fair that was full of culture and celebrated together regardless of ethnicity—all these add profound cultural depth to the school's academic and technological fields. Principal and teachers, your performance deserves a big thumbs up!
