(Washington, 19th) Amid rising Middle East tensions, the US State Department on the 18th took the rare step of issuing a global travel advisory, urging US citizens to remain vigilant when traveling abroad. "Due to heightened tensions in the Middle East, the current security environment remains complex, with the possibility of unanticipated escalation."
At around 6 p.m. Eastern Time on the 18th, Central Command once again launched a new wave of strikes on targets inside Iran—marking the eighth consecutive night of attacks on Iran. Tehran has already announced that it will cease fulfilling commitments stipulated by the ceasefire agreement.
The State Department urges overseas US citizens, especially those in the Middle East, to stay vigilant.
The statement said that pro-Iranian groups may attack other US interests overseas, or locations worldwide associated with the United States and Americans.
In addition, the US State Department reminded people that flight cancellations and intermittent airspace closures may affect travel plans.
Before the US-Iran ceasefire in April, the State Department had issued a similar global travel advisory in March for related reasons.
