(Tehran, 19th) Iranian authorities state that U.S. airstrikes on Iran over the past few weeks have resulted in at least 50 deaths and more than 500 injuries.
Health ministry spokesperson Kermanpour posted on the social media platform X on the 18th: “From June 27 to July 18, the airstrikes caused more than 500 injuries and 50 deaths.”
The latest escalation in tensions between the United States and Iran began on July 8, when the U.S. launched airstrikes against Iran, marking the first time since Washington and Tehran signed a memorandum of understanding.
The U.S. claims the attack was in retaliation for Iran’s assault on a merchant ship in the Strait of Hormuz. On the same day, U.S. President Trump stated that the ceasefire between the U.S. and Iran has ended.
Tehran authorities responded by attacking U.S. facilities in several Middle Eastern countries, including Bahrain, Kuwait, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Jordan.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) of Iran stated on the 18th that, in response to the U.S. military’s strike on the 17th, the IRGC used drones and missiles to strike the U.S. fleet’s fuel supply terminal at Kuwait’s Ahmadi Port and the fighter jet assembly area at Sheikh Isa in Bahrain, and destroyed an information data center in Bahrain. In addition, an Iranian naval warplane also destroyed a signal communication center in Kuwait.
The IRGC announced in another statement the same day that missiles and drones were used to strike the aircraft shelters and large parking area of the Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Azraq, Jordan, destroying at least two fighter jets and three other aircraft, as well as causing serious damage to several more aircraft.
