(Indonesia, 19th) – Iran launched a series of missile and drone attacks against Jordan, resulting in the death of 2 US military personnel and another missing in action.
The US Central Command stated that the two soldiers were killed on the 17th while US and partner nation forces were "defending against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks."
The US Central Command posted on social media platform X that 1 American service member is currently missing, and another 4 have been sent to a hospital in Jordan for treatment.
Since the outbreak of the US-Iran war, a total of 16 US military personnel have died and more than 430 have been injured to date.
US President Trump stated on the 18th that this is a saddening event, and reiterated that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons; the US military subsequently launched a new round of airstrikes against Iran to "punish" its attacks on US personnel.
According to a report by Iran's Tasnim News Agency on the 18th, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Gharibabadi stated that after the US violated an agreement, Iran has suspended compliance with the Iran-US memorandum of understanding.
When asked about the prospect of negotiations with the US, Gharibabadi said: "We have always been in negotiations, but unfortunately, the Americans violated their commitments in the memorandum of understanding and took aggressive actions… We also will no longer fulfill our commitments under the memorandum."
