Thailand will hold its general election vote on February 8, and authorities have recently implemented an alcohol ban.

According to Thai Headline News Agency, to ensure the fairness and transparency of the 2026 House of Representatives election, Thailand's Election Commission has officially issued a “red-level” mandatory regulation, clearly restricting the actions of business operators and candidates. The details are as follows:

Total Ban on Alcohol Sales and Drinking Events:

To avoid violating election laws, during critical election periods, all forms of alcohol-related activities are strictly prohibited within the constituency, including the sale, distribution, gifting, and hosting of parties or gatherings with alcoholic beverages.

Alcohol Ban Periods:

- Early Voting Day (February 1): January 31 (Friday) 18:00 to February 1 (Saturday) 18:00

- Official Voting Day (February 8): February 7 (Saturday) 18:00 to February 8 (Sunday) 18:00

This ban also applies to social gatherings, banquets, and public drinking activities. Violators face up to 6 months imprisonment, a fine of up to 10,000 baht, or both.

In addition, authorities have also restricted campaigning on the day before and the day of voting.

The Election Commission specifically declared: The above “red-level” regulations are mandatory measures and apply to all relevant units and individuals. Any violations will be dealt with according to law. The Election Commission urges all candidates, campaign teams, and relevant business operators to strictly comply with the regulations and jointly maintain the fairness and order of the 2026 general election.
