(US, 8th) US President Trump stated that in order to ensure the security of Iran's enriched uranium stockpile and to dismantle its nuclear program, the US side may send ground troops into Iran.
According to AFP, when asked on Air Force One on the 7th whether he would deploy ground troops, Trump did not rule out this possibility. He said, "Is it possible? Maybe, but there must be very sufficient reasons."
He also said, "Maybe at some point we will do it. That would be a good thing. We haven't taken action yet, but this is something we could do in the future."
Some critics of the US and Israeli war against Iran on February 28 pointed out that airstrikes alone are unlikely to achieve the established goals of destroying Iran's military capabilities and preventing its development of nuclear weapons.
