(US, 27th) A stabbing incident occurred at a Walmart supermarket in Michigan's Midwest region on the 26th, leaving at least 11 people injured. A male suspect has been detained.
The supermarket is located in Traverse City, which is near Lake Michigan and the other Great Lakes, making it a popular tourist destination.
Grand Traverse County Sheriff Shea stated that the suspect has been detained and appears to have acted alone. "Based on the information we currently have, this appears to be a random attack."
A statement from the local medical center says that 11 victims are receiving treatment for serious injuries, with 6 in critical condition.
Eyewitness Julia Martel told the media that she heard screams and saw a man with a knife moving through the store’s pharmacy section.
Martel said she saw the man shoving and stabbing others inside the store. She witnessed three people being stabbed and described seeing "blood everywhere."
