(Bandar Seri Begawan, 17th) With the gracious consent of His Majesty the Sultan, two significant Arabic secondary schools have been renamed as part of the initiative to reform and streamline institute names to align with their respective levels and student population statistics.
The Ministry of Religious Affairs announced today that the Sekolah Ugama Arab Menengah Perempuan Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit and Sekolah Menengah Arab Laki-Laki Hassanal Bolkiah have been officially renamed. The new names are Sekolah Arab Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit (SA RIPAD) and Sekolah Tinggi Arab Hassanal Bolkiah (STA HB), respectively.
This adjustment takes effect on Saturday, March 29, aiming to enhance the transparency and management level of Brunei's Arabic schools, while striving to preserve the historical significance of the schools and their contribution to cultivating high academic talents in the field of Arabic and Islamic studies.
SA RIPAD will represent the campus of Sekolah Arab Persian (SPA BSB) in the capital city, enrolling upper primary girl students in grades 5 and 6.
Meanwhile, STA HB is recognized as the only educational institution in the country that enrolls both male students and pre-university Arabic female students.
The Ministry of Education emphasized that this reorganization reflects the schools' key role in supporting the nation's progress through religious and academic excellence development.
