A 5.6-Magnitude Earthquake Strikes Gansu; Houses Collapse but No Casualties Reported Yet

A 5.6-magnitude earthquake struck Gansu, China, early Saturday morning (September 27), causing houses to collapse, but no reports of casualties have been received so far.
According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, at 5:49 a.m. on September 27, a 5.6-magnitude earthquake occurred in Longxi County, Dingxi City, Gansu, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
CCTV News reported that after the earthquake, the Gansu Provincial Earthquake Relief Headquarters activated a Level IV emergency response; the Dingxi City Earthquake Command Office activated a Level III response. More than 50 officials have been dispatched from Longxi County and Wenfeng Town, Gansu, to carry out disaster assessment.
The Gansu Provincial Fire and Rescue Corps immediately launched a response, mobilizing 200 personnel and 28 vehicles from the Dingxi and Tianshui squads to the site.
In Hualin Village, Wenfeng Town, many earthen house courtyard walls collapsed, and tiles on brick-wooden structures fell off, but there have been no reports of casualties.
Three communication base stations in Longxi County were damaged and are under repair.
