The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) issued a statement on Saturday (September 13), expressing deep concern over Israel's airstrike on a residential area in Doha, Qatar's capital, last Tuesday (September 9), condemning the violation of Qatar's national sovereignty.
The SCO stated in its announcement that such actions seriously violate the UN Charter as well as the basic norms and principles of international law, and are unacceptable.
The SCO has always opposed the use of force or the threat of force in international relations and supports easing Middle East tensions through political and diplomatic means.
The member states of the SCO uphold the aims and principles of the UN Charter and the SCO Charter, believe that any illegal acts are intolerable, and are firmly committed to safeguarding international peace and security.
Israel's airstrike last Tuesday targeted senior Hamas political officials within Qatari territory, shocking the international community. This action may lead to the suspension of the ceasefire talks between Israel and Hamas and exacerbate the Gaza war and tensions in the Middle East.
The United Nations Security Council held an emergency meeting at UN headquarters in New York on Thursday (11th), where all 15 member states unanimously adopted a statement condemning the recent attack on Doha, the capital of Qatar, without naming Israel. The United States, a close ally of Israel, was among them.
