On the 4th, U.S. President Trump told the media at a White House event that it would be very good if Russian President Putin and Ukrainian President Zelensky could meet.
When asked about Zelensky's public letter to Putin earlier that day proposing to meet in a third country, Trump said he was pleased to see the two leaders seemingly discussing the possibility of a meeting, "This is largely thanks to our efforts."
He said: "If they can meet, that would be a very good thing. They really should settle this."
He pointed out that in order to end the Russia-Ukraine conflict, both sides would have to make compromises, just as "I suggested," but he refused to disclose further details.
