After the United States announced sanctions on September 5 against four judges of the International Criminal Court, the court released a statement condemning the action.

The International Criminal Court stated on September 5 that the US sanctions are clearly an attempt to interfere with the operations of the court, saying, "Targeting those dedicated to accountability does not help civilians caught in conflict."

Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu expressed gratitude for the US sanctions against the judges of the International Criminal Court.

He posted on social media, "Thank you to President Trump and Secretary of State Pompeo for imposing sanctions on the politicized judges of the International Criminal Court."

The US government announced on September 5 that it would impose economic sanctions on four judges of the court due to the court's investigations into US personnel and the issuance of arrest warrants for the Israeli Prime Minister and former Defense Minister. Two of the judges were sanctioned for authorizing the International Criminal Court to investigate US personnel in Afghanistan, while the other two were sanctioned for the court's decision to issue arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Gallant.
