US President Trump announced on the 6th that the United States will hold a new round of trade talks with China next Monday (9th) in London.
Trump had just spoken with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the 5th.
Trump wrote on the social media platform “Truth Social”: “The meeting should go very smoothly.”
He pointed out that Treasury Secretary Besant, Commerce Secretary Lutnick, and Trade Representative Grier will represent the United States in the negotiations.
From May 10th to 11th, the US held the first round of talks with the Chinese delegation led by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng at the residence of the Permanent Representative of Switzerland to the United Nations in Geneva.
China Agrees to Restart Rare Earth Supply
Additionally, Trump noted to the media aboard Air Force One that China has agreed to restart the supply of rare earths. Rare earths are crucial to many of the high-end industrial chains in the United States.
When asked by the media whether Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed to restart the supply of rare earths and magnets, he said: “Yes, he agreed.”
