As ‘F3’ members Jerry Yan, Vic Chou, Vanness Wu, and Mayday’s Ashin continue their ‘F?FOREVER Constellation City Tour’ across China with great success, performing four sold-out shows each in Shenzhen and Wuhan in March (a total of eight shows), the solo ‘F1’ Ken Chu has been actively managing his social media, recently uploading footage from his journey to Nanjing last summer. He was on a quest for the flavors of his hometown from memory, and even visited the Ming Xiaoling Mausoleum, where Ming Taizu Zhu Yuanzhang and Empress Ma are buried, to search for his roots. In a humorous moment, he called out, ‘Ancestors, please bless your descendants!’
Ken Chu said that both his grandfather and grandmother are from Nanjing, and he grew up listening to the Nanjing dialect at home. However, he is not sure of the exact location of his family’s ancestral home, as his grandfather and father never told him in detail. Now, he feels quite regretful that he didn’t talk more with his elders when he was young and didn’t realize how precious these things were. Fortunately, during this visit to Nanjing, he went to several restaurants, telling the owners how his grandfather made pressed duck and the flavors they were used to. The owners speculated that his grandfather was probably from the Hushu area. #
