The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated on the 6th that there are currently no plans to close the Strait of Hormuz, and also denied reports that Iran has completely blocked the strait.
A senior officer of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard told Iranian state television that reports from some media claiming Iran has closed the Strait of Hormuz are not accurate. "We have been accused by some of closing the strait, but in fact, Iran has not closed this strait."
This senior officer pointed out that Iran will handle shipping issues in the relevant waters in accordance with international navigation regulations.
On the 6th, Iranian state television also quoted military sources as reporting, "The Strait of Hormuz remains open, but any ship belonging to the United States or Israel will become a target."
On the same day, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Khatibzadeh stated at an international conference in New Delhi, India, that Iran has not currently closed the Strait of Hormuz and has no immediate plans to take such a measure.
He said: "If Iran decides to close the strait, it will make an official announcement."
