Terror Attack in Narathiwat, Southern Thailand! 5 Soldiers Shot Dead in Hail of Bullets

A terror attack occurred in Narathiwat, southern Thailand, on Wednesday (22nd) evening! Five soldiers on duty at a checkpoint were ambushed and shot dead by gunmen dressed in black and wearing masks, while two civilians were injured in the incident.

According to a report by Astro Awani, at 6:45pm Thai time on Wednesday (22nd), the five soldiers were ambushed at a checkpoint on a public road in Tanjong Mas district, Ra-ae County, Narathiwat province.

According to senior security officials in the southern border provinces, two civilians were injured in the incident, one of whom was a 10-year-old boy.

At that time, the attackers, riding in a black four-wheel-drive vehicle, immediately opened fire upon reaching the checkpoint. It is reported that they also used pipe bombs against the security forces at the scene.

The attacked security personnel were all killed on the spot, while the two civilians were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

The authorities strongly condemned this kind of terrorist act, describing it as inhumane, barbaric, and absolutely intolerable under any circumstances.

Launching an attack in a civilian community and disregarding the lives of innocent people and unarmed children clearly shows that the perpetrators have no justification whatsoever. Their actions are purely to spread terror, destroy peace, and disrupt the harmonious life of local communities in the southern border provinces.

The authorities also extended their deepest condolences to the families of the five brave soldiers who sacrificed their precious lives to fulfill their duties of protecting the community.
