As part of the 20th anniversary celebration of Miri's city status, the Mayfest 2025 has confirmed the organization of 31 major events, bringing a series of spectacular celebrations for residents and visitors.
Miri Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang (YB Adam Yii Siew Sang) presided over the 4th monthly meeting of the Miri City Council for 2025 in the council's 9th-floor conference room this morning. After the meeting, he held a press conference, pointing out that the Mayfest opening ceremony will be grandly held at 2:30 PM on April 30 (Wednesday) at the Pullman Miri Waterfront Hotel. 5th City Council Open Day
The Miri City Council will hold its 5th City Council Open Day on May 2 (Friday) from 9 AM to 10 AM at the Tamu Taman Tunku to continue strengthening communication and interaction with the residents.
Car-Free Day Celebration Activities
In conjunction with the 20th-anniversary celebrations of the city's status, the City Council will hold the "Miri City 20th Anniversary Car-Free Day" event on May 3 (Saturday) from 7:30 AM to 10 AM, starting and ending at the Miri City Council Building (Jalan Bandaraya, Marina Bay). The event route covers Jalan Bandaraya and Marina Drive, with temporary road closures in place from 5:30 AM to 11 AM on the same day.
The car-free day event has received widespread support from government departments, private enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and educational units, aiming to promote a low-carbon lifestyle and healthy exercise habits. Activities include walking, jogging, cycling, and group exercises. Additionally, there will be health check-ups, educational exhibitions, and public service counters such as land tax payment and traffic fine processing available on-site.
