12 Foreign Men Charged in Court for Alleged Illegal Gambling

(Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) 12 foreign men were charged in court today for allegedly participating in illegal gambling activities within a house in Belait District.

According to the charge, they were involved in gambling activities at a public gambling house operated in a wooden house in the area during the early hours of June 17, 2025. In addition, a 37-year-old individual, Suendo, was also charged for using the premises for public gambling.

The judge has adjourned the case to June 25 to arrange for interpreters in Indonesian and Bengali to assist in the trial.

Under Section 6(1) of Chapter 28 of the Common Gaming Houses Act, the accused, if found guilty, may face a maximum penalty of six months' imprisonment and a fine of RM10,000.

Meanwhile, under Section 4(a) of the same act, operating a public gambling house carries a penalty of a fine ranging from RM5,000 to RM50,000, imprisonment of up to three years, or both.
