(Bandar Seri Begawan, 20th) Brunei Chongzheng Hakka Association hosted a banquet last night at Tian Fu Restaurant to warmly welcome delegations from the Guangdong Overseas Hakka Association, Hainan Hakka Association, and the American Hakka Chamber of Commerce.

The honorary president and founding president of Chongzheng Hakka Association, Cai Zaiyun, addressed the guests at the banquet, reflecting on the development journey of the Brunei Hakka community. He noted that the Hakka community has experienced both glorious and difficult times in the past. To maintain the shared legacy of generations and to defend and promote the Hakka spirit, 15 years ago, the association was revitalized with perseverance and the spirit of not fearing failure, leading to today’s Chongzheng Hakka Association, which has a 15-year history and originated from the Brunei Hakka Association.

Cai Zaiyun pointed out that, in retrospect, despite ups and downs, the association has internally clarified property ownership of the former organization, eliminating long-standing issues. It has also shown care by giving back to its members, supporting the welfare of members’ children, and participating actively in national social charitable and celebratory events, gaining broad recognition.

Externally, the Chongzheng Hakka Association has made multiple group visits over the past 15 years to Hakka associations in Sarawak and Sabah for various celebrations, as well as to seven associations in West Malaysia to foster exchanges and learning. Additionally, the association actively connects with the global Hakka community and has participated in World Hakka Reunions held in Jakarta, Indonesia; Beihai, Guangxi, China; Sanming, Fujian; Hsinchu, Taiwan; Hong Kong; Malaysia; Longnan, China; and Luoyang, China. The Chongzheng Hakka Association is a member of the Global Hakka Chongzheng Federation and the ASEAN Hakka Association, frequently engaging in world Hakka activities, thereby promoting Hakka cultural heritage and cooperation, connecting Brunei’s Hakka people to the world.

He emphasized that the Chongzheng Hakka Association shares the founding principles of global Hakka associations, which include seeking members’ welfare, preserving shared Hakka heritage, promoting Hakka culture, enhancing mutual assistance and unity, and participating actively in social welfare. Looking ahead, there is ample space for cooperation between the two sides. He hopes that everyone can work together to contribute to their hometowns and society, creating a brilliant future.

Executive President of the Guangdong Overseas Hakka Association, Zhong Wendong, expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality of the Chongzheng Hakka Association and looks forward to promoting cooperation between the two associations.

Those in attendance included Chongzheng Hakka Association President Li Guiqiang, legal advisor Lawyer Yu Qingzai, permanent honorary advisor Wei Bofu, and members of the board of directors.
